New sensor installed, I swear, it seems to run better after new cam sensor(s). This one is hitachi. Took 5 days to arrive, which is strange because usually these things are next or 2 day. Got cash back for the old sensor delphi! So, the old bird is back on the road again.

Question: There is a kink in the vent hose that connects right above the cam sensor on the valve cover. It goes to the intake tube. Reason its kinked is because I installed a Ztube and had to repair that hose nipple, so it isnt a perfect alignment, and the hose is kinked, but it does seal on both ends. As for the question, if there is oil dripping onto the cam sensor from the vent nipple right above the sensor, would this cause premature failure of the sensor? Seems to me that the cam sensor is exposed to oil anyway.

If you're not aware, the hose is part of the crank case ventilation system and a kink is probably cutting off some or all of the fresh air being drawn into the cc. I'd get that corrected.
The question is, is the oil seeping into the sensor between the harness plug and sensor? Mine was clean and no leaks of oil anywhere in my bay, so I don't know how the oil gets into the sensor on the "plug side" but it does as there was oil in mine.
Here's a pic from last year while tucking the bay. You can see the air inlet hose you're referring to. I had the same problem as you with my diy 4" intake so I spliced in a 90* copper plumbing fitting and that did the trick. I've got a better pic of it somewhere.

The G35 hose will not fit if you're using the Z-tube, you need the crankcase ventilation hose from a 350Z which has the correct bends. That's probably why it's kinked.

Its not kinked that much. I made a new hose from 2 pieces and a coupler. I was concerned that the kink might have allowed oil to back up in the line and end up dripping onto the cam sensor. Theres enough flow to allow air flow for sure and oil just not a bunch of oil. It is known that this vent hose is a source of oil consumption on the vq35de. Mine uses some oil, but not much. I will see about finding a 90 deg bent molded hose to replace the kink portion. That will clear it up completely.

Oil gets into the combustion chamber from the hose that connects the pcv to the lower plenum on the passenger side. The hose on the driver side shouldn't get oil in it. Mine doesn't.

Im just shootin in the dark to see if its an outside cause that my cam sensors failed,, or just delphi not being compatible. At this point, only time will tell.

There's 15 years worth of threads about aftermarket sensor failures. I think time already told

They fail because they are cheap shyt
They don't send the proper signals to the ECM
