Hi I just purchased a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe with 200k miles, what are the typical gaskets that will leak oil at its age. Thank you!

 

timing chain galley gaskets and the rear main seal.

 

And piston rings!

 

Not quite replaceable gaskets on their own, but the spark plug tube seals built into the valve covers are known to "leak".

 

Yeah I just didn't want OP to be surprised when it still consumes oil after he gets rid of all the external leaks....

You want to check your oil with every fill up until you know where you stand. Adjust frequency once you got it figured out.

 

Yeah I know the vqs are notorious for burning oil. Will it burn off oil with regular driving or just when you’re running it hard?

 

Once it starts, I suspect even regular driving will eat oil.
