Someone Ran Over My Dog

*Update*

I FOUND THE CAR

NTZ 710 belongs to a silver 6th gen (02-06) Toyota Camry Sedan. The car is literally right up the street from my parent's place.

*Update*

HE GETS TO KEEP HIS LEG. WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!

The worst part is over for now. We'll see what kind of recovery he makes. He's the highest energy dog of the three we have at my parent's house so I'm hopeful he'll be fine in the long term. Now on to those ****** up the street.

*Big Edit*

In an effort to keep the facts from getting mixed in with the fiction and the maybes, I've decided to remove my rage post and instead list the knowns and unknowns of the situation as of now.

- In case you're late to the party, last night someone ran over my Dog. At this point in time, we don't have any names, but we do have some good leads. I'll try to describe everything as best I can point by point.

1. Regarding the accident, my Mom saw the car make the turn from Waialae onto 13th. My dog Bosco had strayed a bit from the sidewalk into the road so my Mom told my Sister to grab his leash and bring him back onto the curb. When my Sister went to grab him from behind, he was startled and moved away from a her a bit and further into the middle of the road. At this point in time, my Mom signaled to the driver to stop so they could retrieve the dog. According to both my Mom and my Sister, the car was moving pretty quickly and the driver only slowed down but did NOT come to a complete stop. My sister said that if she had gone for him, she would have for sure been hit. Me personally, I would have dove with a sort of "Eddie Would Go" mentality, but I can understand not wanting to dive headfirst in front of a car and I don't blame my sister. As for the people who struck our dog. I'm thinking they probably thought they'd scare him out of the street and that's why they didn't stop. Saying they didn't see him would never fly. The little guy is white for crying out loud. I just think these people were genuine ****** who "wanted to teach this dog a lesson."

2. At this point, after having slowed but not stopped, the car struck our dog and ran over him with one of the front tires. There was an Asian (Chinese according to my Mom but just in case they're not, I'll say Asian and or Pacific Islander) couple in the car with a woman driving and a man riding shotgun. They looked to be in their 30s according to my Mom and Sister. After the lady came to a stop. My sister went for my dog but the lady backed up over him again. At this point my Sister shouted at the lady to stop the car. She looked under the car and saw his leg twisted and didn't want to pick him up so she dragged him as gently as possible by his collar to get him out from underneath the car. Once the coupe saw that my Mom and Sister were tending to Bosco, they left. But get this. They didn't speed away. They drove away casually and as they left the man in the passenger seat muttered something to my Mom about it being "our (my Mom and Sister's) fault."

3. Around this time, the neighbors started to come out after hearing the commotion. One of our neighbors got a few towels while another offered to drive. According to my Mom and Sister, Bosco yelped for only about a minute after being hit then immediately became quiet and probably went into shock. According to my Sister, blood was gushing out of his leg and she had to apply pressure to help stop the bleeding. She said it was a good thing she watches ER. She said there was so much blood, she and my Dad had to throw out their clothes when they returned home. My Dad drove my Mother and Sister to Pearl City. Apparently there's an animal hospital there which is the only place open late at night. On the way there Bosco took a crap in my Mom's G35 (another thing these people will surely be paying for when we find them) but remained quiet until about 5-10 minutes before they arrived. My guess is that he was no longer in shock and the pain started to get to him. My folks said he was breathing faintly and howling when he could.

4. Upon arrival, the Vet said that there was a good chance they may need to amputate one of his hind legs. However after cleaning the wound, she said his leg looked much better than she had first thought and that there was a good chance they'd be able to save it.

5. Today my Mom and Dad took Bosco to the surgeon down at the offices at Kahala Mall. He said he didn't even want to discuss amputation when my Mother raised the question and later informed us that they'd be able to save his leg. About time we got some good news. The only downside is that the Vet bills will total some $6k but my family and I can hack that so long as we get our dog back.

That about takes care of things on the dog front...now as for the folks responsible, here's what we know for sure:

1. The vehicle responsible for hitting my (our) Dog according to my Mom has the tags NTZ 710. She said it was a light colored Sedan either a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry according to her but she wasn't sure which. My Sister also said it was a light colored 4 door but she didn't catch the make and model.

*Update*

[b]Found the car. The plate belongs to a silver 6th gen (02-06) Camry Sedan. The car is literally right up the street from my parents house. Time to contact the proper authorities.

And that brings me to my plan. Here's what I'm thinking. We dress Allen up like a girl and have him knock on the door pretending to sell Girl Scout Cookies whilst simultaneously sneaking a peak and the plate number of the car in the garage. Dope plan or what?

Most of all I want these people to pay for what they did and to acknowledge what they did and recognize that it was foolish and irresponsible. Especially leaving the scene. Don't worry, this ain't over yet and I'll be sure to keep you guys up to speed on the situation. Thanks for all the positive comments.

get a hold of mike to help you.

I'm dog person too, and I'll definitly take the hit behind me if a dog ran across my path.

Also, because this would be kind of a he-said-she-said kind of case...it would be kind of hard. But a police report is a good start...keep us posted.

Sorry to hear what happened. Best of wishes to your dog, and hopefully they can save his leg and have a full recovery.

The driver was a coward for leaving the scene.
