Dealer Markup?

Dealer Markup?
I am trying to weigh my options of a new 05 6mt vs a new coupe.
For people who have already bought a new 05 6mt,
Did you end up paying over MSRP?? I hear that our local dealer tries to tack on a markup over and above the MSRP? Huh? Is that a rumor or is that true? If it's true...does anyone actually end up paying that?
Thanks for any info

Actually, I was going to buy a 04 like yours around late Oct/early Nov last year and I could have gotten it for about $1000 below invoice. I know they are more willing to deal as the end of the year comes.
Right now, I am looking at the pricing for a 05 base 6 MT. The MSRP is well documented. However, I'm tyring to figure out if all these buggers who preordered their cars also ended up paying that funky dealer markup ONTOP of the MSRP. I guess I could wait a while until the sales of these coupes slow down?
If all this turns out to be too much of a hassle...I may just end up buying some other car.

Go in to Infiniti of Honolulu and talk to Richard Crabbe. He will try his best to get you the price you want. I do not like the way King charges a dealer markup. Well, at least they do not try and hide the dealer markup with something like "teflon coating paint protection" like some other dealerships on the mainland... Refuse to pay the markup, shipping from California is only $1k and $1.5k from Grubbs.

So you are saying that you did NOT pay any markup over MSRP by going thru Richard Crabbe? I see.
Thanks.

Hi Asao,
Ok...now I understand what you saying. Price vs local service and stuff. Gotcha.
Thanks man.

If the price is not acceptable to you, there are always other options such as Grubbs. I had a pretty good quote from Grubbs(they had a freshalloyclub member discount), but after talking to Richard I decided to purchase my car through Honolulu. The price I got was CLOSE to Grubbs+shipping.
