Need Help! Drove my coupe without air filter :(

last night i was driving home and my car shut off on me at the stop light....

first time it ever happened and my first thoughts were that i just let the revs drop too much....didn't think too much about it until it happened the second time while I was cruising at 70mph and lost my power steering in the process

i pulled over slowly into the breakdown lane and put my hazards on....popped the hood and saw my K & N filter popped off on my injen Ram Air

i must have drove the vehicle for a few miles without an air filter, i know i never red lined it during that time, but my rpms definetly went up to 4 - 5k range during that time

i slipped my finger into the injen tube and there wasn't much dirt...barely any but i still wondered if any damage could have been caused

my question is what should i do about reversing and damage that could have been caused....my only idea is to change the oil tomorrow morning....any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated...thanks everyone

You'll be fine. Don't worry. Your car, more than likely stalled, because you were getting too much air. Too lean. Putting the filter back on is all you need to do.

Damn dude did you suck a bird in there??? Just playing.

More than likely it just threw a code and shut down as precaution. If youre very worried get it checked out. Guys drive around without hoods, I think youll be ok.

You will be fine the car just stalled. The worst thing would have been if that happened in the rain. Make sure you install the aftermarket airfilters properly. I don't think I've heard anything good about them for G35's other than a "cool sound".
