Not sure about headers alone, but MUCH nicer (deeper, raspier) sound with headers and cats

F**KIN A RIGHT I DID!!

I just finished my header install yesterday. I LOVE IT!!!! I don't think I'm going to do anything else to the exhaust. Everything beyond the headers is stock on my '03 coupe. Only other mods are k&n/z-tube & 5/16 spacer. This sucker sounds mean and anything over 1/3 throttle, has a slightly louder idle, not really a deeper tone though. For around town driving, nobody would think twice about the exhaust. Open it up though, and... just damn.

hey dTor did you have on the intake and spacer for a while before you did the headers, because those two alone really opened up the exhaust and espically the engine noise at WOT.

I had them on for about 2 weeks before I installed the headers. Yes, the headers were a definite improvement above and beyond the improvement that the intake & spacer made.

honestly...when I did my headers, I couldnt tell the difference in sound. not that it mattered...mid range power was just amazing - something I could right off the bat.

LOL

The sound change wasn't near as drastic as putting on a catback, but the stock sound does gain some amplitude, especially when you open it up a bit.

I have used both Crawford and Alphawerks and would recommend both.
