Don't try another dealership they are all linked throught some network. I am so sorry man...
trust me on this.. the bypass valve will make your CAI suck in hot air... the air temps with a bypass valve are actually hotter then that of the stock intake... or you can buy a two part intake... the odler version of the injen i have can either be a short ram or long ram intake.. but either way i havnt really had hydrolocking problems... almost did once in heavy rain... just pulled over and started reving my engine a lot till the heat evaporated the way... my friend hydrolocked his 350z but we dried out the engine and replaced his sparks and he was fine.

Yeah, if he didn't bend any connecting rods when it locked... Pull all spark plugs, crank engine for 30 seconds, replace plugs (with new ones) and try to start... If it runs well, consider yorself lucky, then change oil... He should have tried this BEFORE taking it in to any dealer!

If the engine misses, runs rough etc. after a few minutes after restart, chances are the VQ is going to need some internal repairs

Connecting rods almost always bend because they are lightened in post 2000 engines to reduce rotating weight [along with pistons and wrist pins, bearings, cranks]................modern engines don't have the safety reserve in components............not necessary unless you modify things.
