Switch on HKS silencers or something like that.

I hate my stillen exhaust, Cuz its for a 350z and its a little to short... That and with 2.5 inch aps test pipes its rasp from 3k.

My dad has a '07 Z06 (SICK)

there are 4 outlets in the z06, two of them are open untill 3500rpms, to help with low end torque but mostly for sound surpreseent.

It works really well, but he has a mod that opens it up at all rpms, and it rumbles like the beast that it is.

I want to do something like this with maybe an HKS hi-power and the silencers it comes with.

I basically want this to be a daily driver, Nice quiet exhaust, but I want stupid loud when I hit a button.

Any ideas? Anyone have something like this. I dont want a cut out from the headers or w/e.

The HKS system doesn't come with silencers. It's one hell of a system and is extremely quiet when idling. You problem however is more than likely your test pipes. Are they resonated? If they aren't then you probably want to swap in ones that are or go for a HFC setup.

Nah they aren't, but HFC are POS I had them before, plus on a turbo set up you want test pipes.

You think just having res will help?

Why do you hate your Stillen Exhaust? Is it only because you got the shorter version which is meant for the 350Z? Or is it the sound?

.

Maybe you should have bought an exhaust for the G?

only if you want to be completely illegal. Test Pipes probably aren't giving you much more than the HFC in all seriousness. If you want less rasp get resonate test pipes if you want to stick with a testpipe setup. A number of companies sell them. But that's just my opinion and advice. I don't think you actual stillen exhaust system is the thing that is causing the rasp but I've been mistaken before.

first of all, hks won't give you the quiet daily driving exhaust that you are looking for.

depending on where you located the e-cutout(s), you could be running an open exhaust from either the test pipes or midpipe. personally, i think one e-cutout in the midpipe is enough...

e-cutouts are probably your best bet. only a small handful of us, including myself, have done this. it is relatively cheap to do...loud as hell, too.

i guarantee you'll have the loudest exhaust at your next meet if you have HFCs/test pipes and an e-cutout.

Both, I probably should have just gotten res test pipes. And it was a shipping error that got me shafted with a too short exhaust.

Thats not a bad idea, I think I'll pick up an APS 2.5 system, Get res 2.5 test pipes and have an ecutout so I can rip **** open every so often.

I'd like more information on your set up and how you switch the exhaust hero.

If you're going GReddy TT, why not just invest in a 3" exhaust?

G'd35 has the AAM 3" exhaust with his Greddy TT kit and it sounds super clean. You may want to look into it.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm sure a 3" exhaust would be plunty loud..

I don't want rasp or drone, I'll get a cutout if I wanna do that.

the title did not imply rasp was the problem. he only mentioned it once at the beginning of his post. he goes on to say:

now, that quote along with the title of the thread leads me to believe he just wants a quieter exhaust for dd.
