Being that no intake provided a HP gain, and the stock tubing is a straight shot and efficient, I decided to look into maybe just a drop in filter instead. I figure I can pick up a couple HP with just the filter, if anything. There's no use going to a Stillen Intake for that extra 1hp, for $200.

Anyway, I'm having trouble cutting through the marketing BS. Which filter would you guys recommend. So far, there's K&N, Green, and S&B. I've used K&N in the past, but I've been told other filters do a better job with equal or better airflow.

Any ideas? I don't think this has been asked before, can't find it in a search.

i'm selling my k&n panel filter w/ the entire recharge kit.

when my stock air filter gets too dirty, i'll be ordering this for myself.

 

K&N is decent also. I have there drop in filter and love it.

 

I'm doing the same, actually, I'm going to become a "dealer" because its so easy to sign up, and order a bunch of oil and transmission/differential fluid and change it all out at once. I don't think my filters going to make it to 30k or whatever the recommended intercal is, it is looking pretty dirty already. I've used K&N's in the past, but just wasn't too impressed by the filtering ability. Its pretty obvious that it doesn't filter as well as stock

 

i have the amsoil waiting to be put in. didn't want to mess with the oiled filters anymore after having one on my bro's car.

exactly why i changed mine back to stock and am selling the k&n.

 

I would use Amsoil for stock, and AEM for cone type after-market filters. Both use fiber technology for good filtering, long life and easy cleaning, and no oil.

 

Where can I find this air filter? I can't see any sign of it, even on google.

Ok, thanks, I'll order one of them up. What am I looking at, a 1-2HP gain, assuming my stock filter is dirty? 3 if I go with a Stillen airbox? I'll pick one of these up as a maintenance item, the car is hitting 25k soon, probably wants a new one.

I'd really like some mods to make this a little quicker, but it's pretty efficient right out of the factory. The only thing I could see doing now is a new intake manifold, but that'll void the warranty. Maybe I'll leave her stock until the warranty is up, then strap a S/C on her ***.
