Bad MAF
How do you know if you have a bad MAF (mass airflow sensor)? Anyone out there change theirs because of failure? I'm experiencing some engine difficulty right now but I'm not sure what the cause is. Sometimes my car get "stuck" at 2200 RPM and won't go any higher no matter how much I smash the gas! It's like the car engages into slip mode and won't push any harder regardless! I have a Stillen intake on right now but I'm willing to dump it if it's blowing up my MAF! Could this be another senor on the car gone bad or is my MAF just frying out?

Re: Bad MAF
I've read that if your MAF is messed up, the car will go into "default" mode, which means that you can only drive at a much lower rpm, and if you step on the gas, the car feels as though it wants to keep stalling. Sounds like your MAF maybe the culprit. I've also read from people that have installed their intakes themselves that the MAF sensor is extremely delicate and can be easily damaged during the installation if one is not especially careful. Good luck.

Re: Bad MAF
dk,
No, no CEL on. I do the ECU reset with the gas pedal and no codes there either! Today and yesterday the temp in Chicago was above 20 degrees. Car ran much better and only one incidnet of the engine getting choked on my way home tonight from work but it was 15 degrees. it seems this only happens a lot when it gets cold? Could there be any link between this choking and a bad slip sensor? It seems to happen more when roads freeze and slip comes into the picture. It the roads are dry and the tires don't slip, it happens a lot less!!!
