whts the diff between a plenum and intake manifld?
i was wondering what the difference between a plenum and intake manifold was. would an intake manifold be the upper and lower plenum?

Sort of but not really. They perform the same function but the construction of our intake manifold is a little different than most others. Usually you have a single casting that has tubes (intake runners) that distribute a/f from the throttle body to the intake ports on the heads. In our case, the intake is a several piece design. The intake runners are separate tubes that sit inside the plenum and draw air from that chamber and distributes it to the intake port under vacuum. By definition a plenum is an air enclosure that has a higher pressure than the outlet (cylinders during the intake stroke). A manifold is a pipe so fitted that it has several apertures for making multiple connections. So technically we don't have a manifold. We have an intake plenum that the a/f is drawn from by individual tubes connected to the intake ports on the cylinder head.
