350Z Intake Duct

With reference to the DIY thread, can someone explain what are the benefits of installing a 350Z intake duct as opposed to simply leaving the stock G35 unit. In the end, is it worth it?

Re: 350Z Intake Duct

The Z duct has a smoother air flow path. You tend to get better HP numbers. I don't have so I can't say fro sure but many here couldn't live with it and a high flow intake like the Stillen box or the JWT POP Charger.

Re: 350Z Intake Duct

The 350Z intake tube is smoother and straighter than our stock tube, and doesn't have the quietening sound chamber on it that can rob h/p.
It's generally thought of as a good mod, and from what I understand will yield a few ponies for about $75 USD.

Yes, it is worth the $75. The growl is back with the 350Z
tube. Sounds better, more HP, etc....

If you ever flipped the air cleaner cover over on an old V-8, and the results made you smile, you will love this simple mod regardless of whether you find a few more ponies or not!

Re: 350Z Intake Duct

You'll love the sound. It's easy to do. Feeds air more efficiently to your plenum, since it is a straight shot in...that's where the 1 to 2 HP comes in.

This is what it's all about:

It's the best $75 you'll spend, other than on a tank full of premium.

I want to do it. But I think it's too hard. Where can I get it put on?

Re: 350Z Intake Duct

I know you can do it!! It takes less than 15 minutes.

If you aren't that comfortable with taking a socket to your engine compartment, then there is probably someone on the board that would be happy to assist.

If you are in SoCal, PM me and you can drop by some afternoon and I will put it on for ya.

Cheers,
-Ted

Re: 350Z Intake Duct

It is very easy. I didn't even read the diy. It's even better with the Hi-Flow.
