I tend to agree with Dave... this sounds more like the Y-pipe off of a G37.. it has the shorter flex pipes... the heat shields are slimmer also.

interested in looking at the snaps of this y-pipe...

Alright I got the Y pipe installed at the dealer today.

Initial reactions after about 1 hour of driving. When I first revved the car I immediately notice the exhaust note was a bit louder and smoother - sort of more free flowing. There was about 20% increase in power in the lower revs (till about 3500k). On the highway I still felt the power all the way to about 5500k and shifting is a tad bit smoother esp from 2nd to 3rd.

Yes, there is some drone but I think it will go away after a week or two. I had the same drone on my new hks exhaust las year which became quieter in about a few weeks.

I need to see how this mod performs after the ecu adapts - probably by end of next week.

I love the exhaust note now as it is a bit louder but deeper!

I dunno man. But I'm taking this one off this week and putting my stock one back on. I will take pics this time when I swap them so you can see what I mean.
Nissan must have 4 different versions of this pipe floating around. I know for a fact mine came off a 07 350Z. Yours sounds like the HR y-pipe I've seen pics off that came off a 07/08 G sedan which has much smaller flex sections and possibly smaller inlet pipes.

I read an article mentioning the G37 sedan is a few hp down on it's G37 coupe brother due to exhaust differences. This could be it or it could be more marketing hype. But the Ys do look differerent and there's not real reason for that.

guys I've noticed something new today after installing the 08 350z y pipe. As I was revving my car to 2.5 to 3k then letting the car off completely, I noticed a hiss sound from the rear after letting the revs drop (foot completely off gas)... Now the dealer installed the part correctly with new gaskets... any clue what the issue is? Is the y pipe not broken in yet seeing it is brand new?

Well I learned that I got something else, lol. I feel like a jackass, but ah well, live and learn I guess. At least I didn't pay much for it, $20 local pick up.

I did a little research and found out whatever I did get is not a 350z HR y-pipe or part of a 08 350z exhaust for that matter.

Here is a pic taken from the craigslist ad of what I assumed was a 08 350z stock exhaust due to the title of the ad:

Here is what the 07-08 350z exhaust looks like:

second pic is what i have.

seems as if the sedan hr y pipe doesnt give the same results as the z hr y pipe.

remember reading here that some members installed the sedan hr y pipe and gave good feedback on it.

something is strange here...
