Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

If u read the orig post on the dyno test, the avg. hp gain is only 12hp. which is feasible. The dyno graph shown represents the extreme, best/worst runs. Hence, such a massive gain in hp(30+). Therefore, IMO UT's y-pipe is inline with the others, if not BETTER.

Just my $.02

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

GUNITCAR,

Do you really believe that a Naturally Aspirated modification to only one of seven exhaust components will yield a spike of 30 rwhp anywhere on an accurate dyno? (1. intake, 2. plenum, 3. headers, 4. cats, 5. y-pipe, 6. straight pipe (or mid pipe), 7. muffler)

I've changed out the intake, plenum, cats (and saw a spike of 17 rwhp). You think I could have spent 1/3 the money and ONLY changed out my y-pipe and had results that were twice as good?

This is a serious, not sarcastic, question.

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

According to the summary by DaveO citing a mag exhaust shootout, the entire cat back systems were showing 5-6 HP gains. You really think a Y pipe alone is going to make 12? I don't. And I try to do my business, like Neff pointed out earlier, with people that don't try to bamboozle us with flawed data.

So far, I haven't seen a better game in town for my needs than the Fujitsubo, or possibly the Stillen as a second choice.

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

Hi Neffster, again its an avg. 12hp gain, not 30.
Most pple install intake/muffler prior to ypipes/headers/high flow cats because it seems like the logical way to go. Air in/air out. IMO, the ypipe is the real bottle neck of the exhaust system.(demonstrated by UT installing their ypipe on a stock car.)

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

I can't remember, but if you PM DaveO (or Dave O?) I'm sure he'll be happy to share. I just remember the gist of his summary.

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

FYI, Unlimited Tuning has pricing and availability on their y-pipe.
Avail. mid-late August for $395 Shipped. Not bad for a great looking/performing piece.
