Just looks like a straight through 3" muffler.

Not really. The resonator designs are different and the coupe midpipe doesn't have a very clean sound when teamed with the sedan muffler. If you want more sound from your 05/06 sedan, swap on the smaller 03/04 muffler (about 20% smaller than the 05/06 sedan muffler). You'll be surprised at the noise difference.

Here's the 05/06 sedan midpipe with the 03/04 muffler at part throttle:

WOT in the car (HR y-pipe installed too which makes for some additional noise):

i'm not sure of any gains or losses because i have no interest to dyno the car

with less back pressure though there may be some loss in torque so maybe
but its purely aesthetic for me i am not driving a racing car its a daily driver

Ok one question I just had mine done as well. Its not quite as loud as yours and the piece they took out is half the size of yours? It sounds like metal rattling really bad though when i take off. If I take off slowly it sounds fine until i give it alot of gas then it sounds like really bad metal on metal sound except nothing is loose. any ideas??? I basically paid 150 dollars to **** up my exhuast Very nice!!

do you still have the piece they took off? post a pic i may buy it from you... sounds like you either have an 05+ sedan or you have a coupe, so your resonator is smaller

its in the first page

its the large resonator off of a 03 sedan

weights 30.6lbs and will make it buttery smooth no matter what you put it on

the G is such a quite car

until i took this off

i want to take the car for a smog then i'll be getting rid of it
PM me and we can talk about it

1 year old bump. I got my exhaust done and the sound is pure secksss. Sounds like the coupe only deeper/louder. I got an 07 G35 sedan HR Y pipe, 05 midpipe with resonator removed (straight pipe welded in its place) and a universal megan racing dual welded muffler. Unfortunately I don't have a video camera but take my word for it it sounds reallyy deep
