I live in Cali as well and got pulled over three times for the front license plate and none of them have ever mentioned anything about the smell. The scariest one was when the bike cop was right next to me at a light and I thought for sure it was gonna be trouble. The idling of my car is audibly not stock on top of the smell, but to my surprise as he pulled away and turned on his lights it was for the license plate. The other times I just shut off my engine right when I stop.

I really don't hear too many people with our cars getting ref tickets for intake/exhaust modifications. The only few people I know that have gotten ones are the Turbo guys.

I might be lucky but those are my experience.

Well i've yet to be pulled over for the fumes, and i've been right next to cops at the light. I just pray they dont have their windows down lol. But so far, so good. I wonder if saying you have an exhaust leak that needs to be fixed would get you out of a ticket haha.

^haha, that's not a bad idea. That's until he looks underneath the car and see those shiny side canisters where the cats should be, afterward it's the baton to the gut.

(btw I might have a leak due to installation where Headers and ART meet)

but I still ordered the CAT XYZ accessory last week and still waiting for that to arrive.
It will deliver at your address tomorrow. Just in time for a weekend install.

Excellent. I'll also check on that possible leak.

And to me, the fumes are well worth the performance you get from these pipes. You just always have to try to avoid being directly infront of a cop.

I can tell you that when I installed CrafordZ cats some 5 years ago, it was the stink that I hated the most. But it went away few moths later. Noise did remain, and power gains as well .

They imploded since and one would intermittently get clogged, throwing P0300 – which gave me good run around until I figured why. Now gutted - they probably are robbing me of some power.

Seeing ART pipes numbers (well, except price), I am seriously considering them, perhaps its time to cash in my $100 check (revup spacer dyno LOL). Before I do can someone please point me to the dB numbers or measure noise that they make (SPL meter), say at idle, 3K and then 6K RPM? Thanks

The Single XYZ CAT eliminated almost all the foul emission odor.
im wondering if anyone has ever tried to pass smog with it. highly unlikely but i wonder......

The cat actually drops 4 HP from the straight pipe. Its probably not noticeable while driving but it does register on the dyno. And it does help to clean up the smell and soot.

Here's an interesting link.
http://my350z.com/forum/forced-induc...g-results.html

This guy made +30 HP by installing the XYZ cat on his Vortec Z.
