I have seen companies acutally fully design, construct, test, and produce entire manifolds for the G35 (like the SSV) for less than they are charging for a simple retrofit.

Though I can get the HR plenum for 250, I am willing to bet they can get it even cheaper.
You have no clue what it is yet are making some very big and un informed assumptions.
If it was as simple as you imply, it would soon become a quick and easy DIY. Right?

Let me know when the thread starts.

Also something to point out.
A lot of those manifolds that have been made for the older VQ up through to the latest motors, are not always cut out to make good power.

the Kinetix SSV for example on nearly every dyno I have seen personally run on NA vehicles loses power. the MREV2 + spacer from MD always gained. So it's not always beneficial to fab something completely new. forget about paying the money for how much custom made "material" you're getting, and start thinking about the power you're making...
And there's always more to MD's products than a simple retrofit, that's why they're the best out there with these modifications, and the reason why no other company has yet to produce something even from scratch that really outshines MD...

For $700, I think it's in MD's best interest to disclose what has been done to this manifold to improve performance of the VQ37. From what I've read so far, it sounds like the only changes are repositioning some bolt locations to make it fit the VQ37. Is MD sawing these open and changing something? There are no dyno numbers either other than a statement that preliminary results are promising. MD has a solid reputation among the VQ crowd, but I don't think reputation only is going to help move a lot of these $700 manifolds.

2- Well www.infintipartsusa.com sells the 08 350z HR plenum for 263.60 dollars. I called my local dealership and they said he would give it to me for 250. (So I guess I was 35 dollars off)

I am not at all arguing with any claims about power gains. That part I have no idea. But how do you justify 700 dollars for a 250 dollar part with a plate, 4 bolts, a vacuum tube and acouple stickers?

Especially when the MD pleum spacer for the G35 actually had to be designed, milled, machined and sells for 250 dollars.

They are charging 450 dollars MORE and they didnt actually do anything. Just retrofitted an OEM part from the HR to the VHR. Really all it comes down to is that since the G37 costs more, they charge more. Just like a carbon fiber engine cover for the 350z will cost about 150-200 dollars. A carbon fiber engine cover for the GTR will cost about 500-600 dollars. Is there more work involved or more elaborate? No. Simply because the vehicle costs more, the company will charge more.

You sir will continue to get flamed because you dare to think instead of saying ok ok cool where and how much???

I couldn't agree more with your theory which is truth btw. Coming from the bimmer world i can tell you the same logic applies. Example: performance software for an E36 M3-400 dollars back in like 03. performance software for the E46 M3- right around a grand.

Did those companies put anymore R&D into the E46 software? I doubt it, little more if any but the bottom line is that as long as you have the bend me over bettys that keep saying ill pay whatever and thank you sir may i have another doing what they do,all these companies will keep charging ridiculous premiums. Its how they make their living.

I personally used to love to hear active autowerke get on the forums and claim all this r&d bs this and that and the other and they still made inflated performance claims that dynos proved to be wrong, and low and behold rich turds still bought the product.

I mean come on why wouldn't they? If we were in they're place we would be doing the same thing...

By agreeing with this guys theory i in no way mean any disrespect to tony or and other vendors, but not all of us are fooled so easy
