^What are you boosted with? Some people with SC's have shown gains with that plenum.

v3 vortech for rev-up (3.13 pulley) around 7psi @ 6800rpm I need to go up to the shop and get an overlay of the dynos, it didn't look good though.

WOW....I have been saying the same thing about those damn k&n drop in filters and our cars since the beginning. I used one for 2 months on my car when I first got it, my car had 15k miles on it. Put in a k & n drop in filter.....Had to clean out the intake, all the piping, and the throttle body, all of it had a black oily residue. K&N = BAD for your engine.

Black oily residue is oil from the crankcase venting, not the air filter.

So the residue came up into the intake tubing where MAF sensor is back against the flow of air from the crank? This is impossible. What are you a K&N filter guy? Or do you sell them or something? B/c maybe the throttle body, but not all the way down my intake piping toward the filter....This was completely from K&N oily filters. IMHO, K&N filters were created by mechanics or car manufacturers as a way to increase mechanic bills. Why would anyone put oil into a filter? Unless it is your oil filter. I have the R2C filter, WAY better airflow than a K&N, NO OIL at all, I can even clean it with a shop vac in 2 min or less. If I use my air compressor, it blasts the dirt out and looks like new in 2 min also. Heck if you had time to let the filter dry, you could wash it with the water hose.

Tuners have already noted the benefits of the standard Z intake with a good panel filter.

wow, im not sure if you ever get on anymore man, but let me thank you if you ever see this. you probably saved SO many people so much money,as well as time by doing this. I agree to a T on pretty much everything you said, and concluded. I do in fact believe if ur car wasnt tuned already, the numbers would of shown a difference. So inconclusive is a good word.

thanks again

btw, would be interesting to see a dyno done to this nature, with the DIY cold air intake mod that HENRY posted on this site, drilling a hole and inserting a tube from behind the grille doing right into the OE intake box

more proof about the stock airbox. How many of these tuned shop VQs do you see using a cone filter?

"12 of Japan's best tuned Z33 and V35 are modified within the given regulations"

what are the regulations? The only reference I could find was a video in Japanese...
