MD ART test pipes or MD MREV 2??

Im looking at getting one or the other right now as I dont have the money for both. My setup now is a MD 5/16 copper iso spacer, Z-tube, 06-07 airbox, and K&N drop in. My exhaust and everything else is stock. My G is an 04 so I do not have the rev-up engine. Which one would I see the most gains with?? Later on down the road when I have a couple G's, I am going to buy exhaust from the headers back. Another question I have toward the test pipes is...would they pass emissions. I already know that IF I would get a CEL all I would need are the O2 foulers but would they pass an emissions test? Common sense is telling me no but I just want to check.

Since you don't have a revup go with the ART pipes. The MREV2 will only give you minimal gains (on a non-revup), particularly compared to ART pipes. You won't get a CEL with the ART pipes, but I doubt you will pass emissions testing.

you could polish the inside of you plenum for a little better airflow.

+1 to Candlestick. Since you don't have a REVUP the ART pipes will do much more.

I've dyno tested a complete polish of the lower plenum internal ports and it did nothing to the power curve.

Yes, it takes a lot of time time to polish it out and yield nothing.

Thanks again guys for all the feedback. The ART pipes look nice and the dyno testing I've seen looks like they would do a lil something. One other thing I was tossing back and forth was to go with a good set of HFC's. That way I wouldn't have to swap out the test pipes with my stocks to pass my emissions every year. Any suggestions on a good make of HFC's? The only thing with the HFC's is if I do eventually decide to go FI they would be a flow restriction....decisions decisions

Im a non revup motor and Ive just made the switch from Berk HFC to ART pipes. One thing to say about the Berk HFC is that they will make the car scream. Depending on your exhaust setup they will cause rasp and might not. The Berks are a 200cel vs the FI HFC which are 400cel. I can say I felt great gains with the Berk HFC but once i traded it out for the ART pipes, I notice a better gain in tq in the low end, while everything else felt the same up top. But of course this is all from my butt dyno (but the tq is def increased <-- able to peel out from a roll in 1st vs hfc not able to do that) Sound was minimized with the ARTs so that was a plus for me as well bc the exhaust (nismo) was too loud with the Berks. Rasp was greatly reduced to a minimum but still faint. Faint enough that it doesnt bother me like the HFC. A few other things I would say about the ARTs though is that it smells terrible compared to HFC and the fitment of these ART are not on point. If you do buy these make sure you are either 6mt so you dont have clearance issues or if you are 5at, buy the newest updated ones with the brackets for the brace (v2.1) all the others usually have fitment issues. I had to learn the hard way getting v2.0 that didnt fit well with my 5at tran. I had to fabricate it a lil to make it work.

^^ Thanks for the input. I did decide to go with berk's HFC's. That way I dont have to swap out with the stocks every year to pass emissions. The rest of my exhaust is still stock so Im not too worried about rasp for now. BTW, I am a 6MT. I read in another thread that MotorDyne may be making a new set up with the Shockwave TDX2 that has cats. If they do then I would most likely get some ART pipes and the TDX exhaust. I had planned on prolly getting that exhaust anyways so that would make it even better for me.

I have full MD exhaust TDX v2 with ART pipes on my 06 AT. No problems with install or anything for me. I got everything over a year ago so it was the first version of art pipes. Personally I love the set up and most other ppl do as well. If you go with that set up I think you will be happy

I most likely will go with the TDX2 exhaust. Not so sure about the ART pipes yet though. I have to make sure I can pass emissions every year. For the time being I just bought some Berk's HFC's.
