CAI + plenum spacer + HFC + exhaust
CAI + plenum spacer + HFC + exhaust
Hi, I wanna start getting my 2003 G breath better, so I would like to go with that setup:
- AEM cold air intake;
- 5/8'' Skunk2 plenum spacer;
- Fast Intentions resonated Hign Flow Cats;
- Borla cat-back exhaust system.
What do you guys think about it. Sound? HP? Quality?

I would say you are better off with a Motordyne 5/16" spacer than the Skunk2 one. It's probably the best bang for the buck mod out there. Intakes really don't do much for our cars besides add sound.
There are plenty of youtube clips with the borla exhaust. They should give you an idea of the sound.

I would go w/;
R2c intake (if you really want an intake)
5/16 motordyne spacer
Fi HFC is a great choice
and I would go w/ either a motordyne exhaust or FI.
Good luck on your modding

Honestly the intake is not going to do you any good but make some sound and lose power. Read the thread about the intakes.
If you really wanna get a an intake, either get a z-tube and k&n drop or buy a stillen intake with the box shield.
Motordyne 5/16th spacer is prob a better way to go but if you want 5/8 skunk thats cool too.
FI HFC i wouldnt get. Its a higher cel count (400) which is close to stock (600 i think). If you have to stay with HFC I'd go with Berk HFC. Its (200 cel) which means more flow.
If youre not staying in HFC, go with test pipes.
As for exhaust, Id go with anything thats a true dual.

And, i will also stress the intake point, just get a good flowing panel replacement, preferably dry flow, like an Apexi.

Get a used spacer, they're all pretty much the same. Motordyne is a
"premium" brand, but from what I've seen in real life theres no benefit to any over another so get the cheapest one you can find.
5/16" is a good size for all around power.
No intake is going to give you massive gains. A z-tube/ pop charger or k&n filter will give you the best gains for the least amount of $$, all the other ones just look cool. Stay away from a metal intake tube as it will heat soak and rob you of precious hp.
People worship fast intentions, and I even bought the hype when my car was new
And bought a set of their HFC but since then I've
Learned a thing or two. I know a guy personally who had a
Set fail after 3000 miles. I know several guys with kinetix (a lot cheaper) that are lasting 10000 miles plus. I have it on good authority that the cores are all made at the same place, the different
Companies just put them in their own piping. Whatever you do, be wary of used setups.
Any cat back exhaust will give you about the same gains, which are minimal at best. Choose a setup based on looks and sound, they're all slightly different but all sound good IMO.
Dont neglect regular maintenance. Nissan claims the spark plugs are
Good till 100k miles but that is complete BS. If you haven't gotten a tune the whacked out A/F tables are
Going to destroy them very fast, Uprev recommends 25k mile intervals And has seen a 3 whp gain just from fresh plugs.
Lastly get a tune. Makes a massive difference.

After reading this, you'll see that the only intakes you'll want to run are the OEM airbox or Rev-Up airbox + panel filter:
