Question Anyone made an intake pipe themselves for the G35 Coupe?

Hey guys,

I'm in Australia and looking for a cold air intake kit so i can put a pod filter/pop charger in the US? on the car to make it sound a bit better

Anyone had one custom made or made one themselves, & do they need to be made in aluminum?

I was going to see if a local exhaust shop could make one up in mild steel if that's suitable.

Cheers.

(Forgot to add, no one in Australia sells the kits for some reason - i'd have to buy one overseas)

Save yourself the headache and buy something already made for the car
It's not worth it

Had you read your previous post, I gave you the answer to intakes! There are no advantages to an aftermarket intake, plus there are major disadvantages to anything metal in your intake! Heat is the enemy, having metal intakes you get heat soak causing you major loss in H.P.! All you need is a Z-Tube to change the sound and a high flow drop in filter like K&N or AMSOIL!

Literally all you would need to do to get the most out of your stock intake tube would be to block off the baffle hole and you'd essentially have a z-tube. Like literally just duct tape over the baffle and you have a CAI.

Or just cut off the baffle and just wrap something over the hole. The baffle is the only difference between the G and Z tube.

In fact, the G-tube might be better (without the baffle) than the Z-tube cuz of the oblong chamber; It may have more complete volume. As long as it doesn't cause turbulence, it may be better.

Anything strong enough to hold up to the vacuum of the intake and the heat under the hood. Some kind of flexible plastic and silicone sealant should do the trick.

Probably. Any dough would be fine, and would bake into a wonderful-smelling air freshener.
