Crawford Plenum - Polished or not

Can't decide if I want the polished or black version of the plenum. I'm getting a Turbonetics ST kit. The piping is black chrome and the turbo is not polished.

Opinions?

The difference between the two is cosmetic. Both work/perform the same.

I believe he knows that, that's why he's telling you how his other components will look. He wants out opinion on how the entire package will look. I say get the polished one, it will look good with your other stuff.

I got the black one because at th etime the polished wasn't available and Doug mentioned it would be about $650. I opted for the black for $350 and decided to get it custom powdercoated which was supposed to be black chrome but my powdercoater screwed up, or misinformed me of the process so I ended up payin $300 for gloss black! When I got it back I wasn't please at which point he mentioned that to get a black chrome look, the piece would have to be polished first then powdercoated. So if you want black chrome, I would get the polished one since Doug first fills in the pits from the casting process and then polishes it. It is not a simple polish job as it does require more work. Once you get the polished one, you can have it powdercoated for around $200 maybe less in black chrome finish.

Took the words out of my mouth.

Thanks for your opinions

Diesel - thanks for the heads up. Since my piping is going to be black chrome I might be considering that route.

I have a left over 03 plenum I can sell you for a great price if you were thinking of keeping your orginal. That way you could send the one I got for the core.

why not ask doug to do both? he does powdercoating of his own plenums for an additional $20 (unless this changed since a year ago). ask him to purchase a polished one, then powdercoat it. i'm sure this won't seem to much of a stretch.
