Kinetix Manifold VS. Crawford Plenum
#18
I wonder if anyone here has the sport Z magazine. There was a plenum shoot out between the Angled plenum, Kinetix (plenum, not manifold), Crawford and the Motordyne spacer. The simple Motordyne spacer actually did amazingly well against products costing twice its price. Not to mention you can do a stealth install with the spacer.
I've heard mixed reviews regarding the Kinetix SSV. It yields significant gain with FI applications especially turbos. However in NA form it seems to actually lose a lot of power and torque in low and mid range. Looking at the design that's pretty apparent though. Nissan didn't put those long complicated intake runners into the plenum for no apparent reason. I am not an expert on 'engine bay style,' so I kind of prefer to have the stock engine cover left in place.

I am not an engineer here, so I will not try to make any claims that I am, but when you compare the design of the manifolds, the plenum seems to have a more general equalibrium of air to pull from with its larger round design. In the SSV, I could see how the cylinders furthest down the row would get less air due to having to pull air from the same narrow tube that the first 4 cylinders (further up the tube/ closer to the source) take from.
I think at this point, I will go with the plenum and call it a day. But, if you do have any more info to discuss, please go right ahead.
