Intake & MREV
Intake & MREV
Just wandering if anyone could help a novice out.... ive been browsing the forum and some online stores and am having some issues...... whats the difference between the MREV and the other plenum's sold by motordyne.... which one to choose for a '05 6MT Coupe..... ++ what is the diff. between a cold air intake kit and the Pop charger/Z-tube setup....... im sure these have been discussed before, if anyone could help me out or link me to the answer(s)...... appreciate it!!!!
In short with regard to your specific vehicle and the Motordyne line of products . . . You have really only 2 options. Those said options would be the MREV or the MREV+ set-ups. The regular spacer set-up has been tested and shown to afford little to no added value to the RevUp engines, which is what you have. If you haven't been to the Motordyne site, here it is.

The CAI set-ups such as the Injen and AEM are long ram intakes, if you will. While the JWT popcharger set-up is a short ram set-up, if you will. Some people believe that the short ram set-ups are prone to heat soak from the engine bay, because the popcharger is an exposed unit and relatively close to the engine's heat sources. The Stillen Hi-Flow is very similar to the popcharger. However, the Stillen cone filter unit is housed in a box, which is likened to the OEM airbox. This does help insulated the heat from the said filter.
In the end, it's all a matter of personal preference . . . Happy modding!

Oh . . . Btw . . . I have read that the WeaponR is another fine choice for intakes. There are many members on these boards whom are quite satisfied with the said, as well. You've have a bit of researching ahead of you.

From what i've heard through the grapevine, it's LOUD compared to the rest, and there are good gains thats comparible; if not a lil better than that of the Z-tube & JWT Popcharger.
