Hi Guys;
As some of you know, I work for MagnaFlow. As some of you may have noticed, we're now sponsors of this forum.

Just wanted to let you know that we've significantly reduced the pricing on our G35 catback systems.

Some of retailers are now selling the system for about $630!! Here's one:

http://www.hottexhaust.com/search_re...hParamType=ALL

Info on the system can be found here, including a high res sound/video clip:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=Sport&id=998

The system makes 9hp and 11lbs ft over stock.

Hope you find the information useful

good looking exhaust, great sounds, but not optimized for maximum flows. 2.5" on a single pipe is wayy too small for our cars, lots of backpressure

a 2.5" single pipe for exhaust won't start to become a restriction flow wide until somewhere north of 350hp, proven time and time again on the dyno. I'm talking WHP, not flywheel either.

2.5" pipe will flow 500+ cfm fyi.

We've dynoed couple cars:

My car (not G35) gained 4whp moving from 60mm catback system (straight through) to 2.5" mandrel bent setup, straight through. All motor. 192.7whp to 197whp

My friend , B18C ST setup, 398whp, gained 29.3whp going from 60mm catback to 3" setup. Again, both were straight through.

Another friend with a RB25DEt swap in his S14 gained 14whp going from 2.5" to 3"; from 287 to 301whp.

I don't have the CFM measurement device so I don't know specific flow rates. But from my experience around all these great people with custom setup, sizing does matter for rated hp. Don't forget, when talking about flow rate, you need to take friction, mass flow rates, piping length, fluid density, etc. into account. I don't know a lot deal about these since I'm not a physicist but a regular test engineer I only speak based on what I see and learned. And I've been wrong countless of time.

You are talking apples to oranges in those instances.... a SC will benifit from the largest exhaust possible (that the owner can tolorate noise wise)....same with a turbo car.

I don't know the specifics of your car to comment, but I could take a guess that it lost torque in the mid-range/low end, which is where the G35 shines IMHO

I'd also be willing to be you that the ST setup actually LOST boost pressure on ther gauge, while gaining HP. A win-win situation if there ever was one.
