That part on the coupe must go back further than the sedan. I faced mine the other way and still was too far back. Mine are facing the other way and I still had to make brackets to move them further back. Otherwise there would have been a gap on the front from the slope.

Definitely possible. There is a small radius at that location on the coupe hood as well. It was slight enough that I just forced the latch assembly to follow the contour of the hood by tightening the nuts. Alignment is very good. Pins are recessed nearly as far as they'd go in order to line up with the latch.

Hood pins are very reliable in my opinion. Better safe than sorry. Would you rather be paying for a new windsheild, hinges and a hood are just drill two holes in the radiator support?
