What should I do? - received a cracked new CF TS Hood

I just received a new CF TS Hood from CarbonLTD but it has a small crack next to one of the vent. What should I do?

When the item was being delivered to my home, one of the corner box was ripped apart/damaged.

Here are the pictures of the cracked hood:

I bought it from CarbonLTD. Jim quoted me for the TS hood. I paid thru Paypal. Don't know if it's insured. I PMed Jim (CarbonLTD) and he told me it was not his fault. He claimed he checked throughly and it was perferct. He said it's the shipping company fault. He instucted me to file a claim with the shipping company.

yeah file a claim. thats a lowball in my opinion from either him not inspecting it thoroughly or the shipping company for not taking proper shipment. ask him if it was even insured.

These are his responses.

Let me know if you need help with a claim.

Jim
Yes, please help me with the claim. Thx!

Jim, I don't think it's the shipping company fault. There was nothing visible in the center box that will cause the damage to the CF vent. I still believe it's a manufacture defect.

I paid alot of money on this and I am expecting to get a perfect hood.

lol, why do I have to pay to fix it!! From what I have seen, it's a manufacture defect.

That's a crack that can be easily missed if you do a quick check of the hood...Keep the shipping box and see if the shipping company can take the heat...

I checked it throughly when I received it. From a distance you won't see it but when you come close and touch the cracked CF part, you can feel it.

Yeah, like i said...from your first picture you can't see it unless you are looking for it...But the second picture it looks like something dropped on it or flexing during shipping that caused it to break off...But it looks like something dropped on it because of the other small scuffs marks...File a claim with the shipping company and let them give you an answer...

Hey Andy sorry to hear about the crack on your carbon fiber hood from Jim @ carbonunlimited, you paid alot for this and it shouldn't come cracked. and also you shouldn't have to go through all of this trouble, you're an honest guy and they should compensate you for this. GL Andy.
