Lightbulb ghetto auto-headlights

Has anybody ever wired up their non-automatic headlights to basically work like an automatic system? I know there has to be a way that you can just leave you headlights in the on position all the time and wire them up to turn on/off when you turn the ignition on/off. You just need to find another electronic device that turns on/off with the car and splice the headlights into them, like the radio or the guage lights. Ideas?

you would use a relay and hook it up to the 12volt cig lighter in the car.

I'd like to have my headlights come on when I unlock the car with the remote.

How simple would it be to do? I do most of my own mods, but electrical stuff has never been my strong point. Would a good mod shop be able to figure out how to do it?

tap into your map lights with a relay then. I don't recommend this though, it will shorten the life of your HID's considerably
