Wow that was easier than I thought.... only took about 15 minutes to cut open.

It appears that the 03-05 and 06-07 tails can use the same size insert Ive made.

The seam is on the backside and kinda tucked down in the tail light. Once its sealed back up you'll never see it.

As far as sealing it back up, Id use silicone sealant they sell at any automotive parts store. I used black sealant on my headlights when I sealed those back up. Havent had condensation at all on those.

I may have found a company that chromes plastic. Emailing them tomorrow to see how much it would be to plate the inserts I machine.

Disassembled the whole tail light tonight, gonna start cutting tomorrow for the insert.

A little hickup I found that I hadnt planned on was on the 06+ tails there is a clear plastic lense that covers the LED area. Im gonna try and duplicate that by machining it and then polish it so its totally clear. Not really that hard, just more programming and machining and an extra part.

chrome plating is a go... found a company that will do it.

Cutting up the housing tonight, fitting the insert, and shipping them out Monday to have them chromed.

You know what would be unique, CLEAR taillights on the coupe, it should definietly look better than the ricer look on the hondas lol. I've seen a few FX and M's with clear tail lights, and it looked awesome. Never saw it on the G though.

You're doing some amazing work here man, keep it up!

Got it fitted pretty well. Have to sand down the overall diameter a fuzz so it fits better.

Obviously its gonna look OEM once I get the insert chromed.

Also have to enlarge the LED holes just a fuzz so they are the same diameter as the bigger ring.

the shape is looking pretty good, the inserts have to be wider, but you might barely run out of room at one point.

Can't wait to see the end product!

Why not just some chrome spray paint. They will be inside the red housing so noone will know the difference and you dont have to worry about them wrecking them shipping it opened.

That one is painted with chrome spray paint, I was trying it out, and knew it wouldnt look good anyways... looks like sh;t if you ask me. I want it OEM quality so Im having that company elctrostatically plate them for me. Look at how dull the side of the pocket is compared to the larger pocket, just cuz its reflecting the dull silver, not the quality of work I want to sell to people.

Shipping what opened? All Im shipping to them are the 2 rings I machined, not the whole tail light bezel.

use a common ground and then tap into the turn signal wire with a diode in between the wire and the new rings and then do the same thing for the other source of signal (brake light) that way both the turn signal and brake light can be on at the same time feeding +12 to the ring but not back feeding anything at all. this is the cheapest, simple, reliable way to do this

Not quite . What happens in between signals ? The brake will be on while turn signal is flashing and still be dominant . Not the most reliable at all either . I make modules that will disrupt the brake on the side that is signaling while still lit at marker brightness thru PWM function . This would be the most reliable way .
