Seat Belt warning chime not working, will the passenger airbag go off in an accident?
Hey everyone. So the last owner of my g35 disabled the warning chime for whatever reason. I'm not sure how he did it yet. I tested to see if the seat belt light would come on my passenger didn't have it clicked in and it didn't. It does when I do though just no chime.
I'm worried that if I do get into an accident with a passenger, will the passenger airbag deploy? I'm guessing the car doesn't know when I have passenger because of that seat belt light not coming on when there is someone sitting there without the seat belt on.
If it is possible the airbag wont deploy I'll really want to fix that. Any input on how would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

During the lamp test when you turn the key to ON do you see all the SRS lights and stuff turn on?
Typically if someone defeats the seat belt sensor it's just a resistor or hard wire on the switch, this would only affect the auto-retractor though not the airbags, and it would force the auto-retractor to pop even if that seatbelt wasn't actually in use.
There is also a diagnostic mode you can put the SRS system in if you want to test it's functionality, look in the table of contents for "trouble diagnostic without Consult-II" in the SRS - Supplemental Restraint System section of the FSM.
