Automatic Shift Knob.
I cut mine down. You can pull the white plastic piece with the rectangular head off. Just put it in some vice clamps and cut it down about 1/2-3/4". I left a little over 1/4" of the rectangle just to insure that it would function the same. I just bought a universal stainless steel **** and Jimmy rigged it to work, until I can purchase the momo everyone is talking about. It looks 10x better than the stock, and was able to rig it with no button, but just pushing down on the **** to shift. **** was installed so it would go all the way down to just before the shift plate.
the momo shift **** would make it super sexy!
...yeah, that just happened!
Can someone explain how the momo shift **** fits?
I first got the silver finish momo shift **** way back in 2004 and had the dealer put it on. It was fine for a couple years but then it started causing trouble. First the button wouldn't push down anymore and it would just move around without using the button. Then sometimes it wouldn't lock into park so you could get your keys out. Once when I brought it into Big O Tires they had trouble with this and really beat up the shaft the **** goes on to try to get it to work. Then the **** just came off all together. I drove around for a while with the momo **** on top of the shaft but not attached to it. You could just lift it off, but it worked to push down. I tried to get a local shop to put it back on like six months back. It lasted a few days and popped right back off. I thought the shift **** was the problem, so I bought a new identical momo ****. I looked at the instructions to try to install it myself but it didn't seem like the **** was meant to fit a G35. I brought it back to the shop to see if they could get it on. They also say it just doesn't fit, though it is the same **** that many of you guys are using. Can someone here give me some tips? What needs to be done for the momo **** to fit a 2003 G35?
nothing special.. just take off the old one... remove the white extender so the momo sits lower on the shaft... adjust the height so it engages the Park release and tighten it down.. pretty much it.. I've had mine almost two years, no problems whatsoever (so far...)

Thanks for the response. When it was originally installed, the white extender was left on. It is still on. Could that be causing the trouble or does that only affect the **** height?
maybe with the engagment issue, but don't think it would cause the chrome button to pop off like yours is.. that sounds more like it's messed up from having it worked on so much to get it right... bummer.
I don't think it would sit right with the white extension still in place... IF you can get the shift **** off, try removing the extension.. reinstall the ****, adjusting the height as low as you can go, but still able to release from park smoothly.. then torque the set screws down to keep it in place. Hopefully the release button hasn't been damaged to the point that it's going to just fall off all the time...

This is my favorite shift ****....^....for this **** adding a little LockTight red on the threads will keep it tight. Using LockTight on the Momo set screws will also keep it from getting loose which was an issue with me until I figured it out....Gary
