well TGIMFF again! finally done with classes for now and have aLOT more time on my hands....i ordered some new fabric (leather) that is coming in today and I was thinking of wrapping my sunroof slider....problem is how do you get that thing out? i searched all over came up empty handed =/ i was told b4 that u can just pull it out and slide it back in?? appreciate it

I dunno about that I thought you needed to take out the headliner

Its been a LONG time ago but Im pretty sure I removed the headliner first. My headliner had to come out anyway so Im sure I took it off first. I do remember it was pretty easy to remove everything.

Remove the headliner. There are 2 black clips (one on each side of the sunroof guide plates) remove these. The sunroof slider should now be able to just slide right out.

i used to do interior and took these out all the time, i havent looked at the G slider but 99% of the time you can remove the sunroof glass, then a couple of screws from the top of the tracks and pick it up through the top. Then again sometimes yes you have to remove the whole headliner. Watch out when wrapping it with leather though. Clearances on these things are precise and you may cause problems with the slider. My suggestion is to trim it even on the side edges to allow it room to slide better, but again, I know BMWs would lock up if you didnt pull the material as tight as you can using the thinnest materials available.

Yeah. my suede headliner/sunroof has caused the sunroof slider to require a lot of effort to move...but it's worth it.

well i started to trey and pop the headliner off but only ended up making it dirty! =/ wasnt really taking my time so i will attempt it with a friend this time...heres how the rest of the onterior pillars are coming along:

Wow... that looks really good.. Are you wrapping with real leather?

I bought a few cans of high quality fabric dye and I plan on dying my headliner/pillars etc. I also bought some classic car plastic dye to dye the dome lights etc.

What are you using to keep it glued?

How did you get the pillars in the front off.. I've been trying to pry those all morning and I'm afraid of breaking them!@#

....to glue i am using the strongest 3m spray glue adhesive possible (i think 88) u can get it at bennet auto supply, etc...

Can someone link to a headliner DIY removal? I'm having problems getting it out and I don't want to just yank and break...
