This just seems extreme. Its a car, its meant to be driven.
We are being serious. The driving shoes were recommended and considered because of their heel design which is less harsh on the floor mats, not because of track times.

Even the all weather mats will wear a hole with time. I am using a set I switched over from my previous Maxima with same color interior and am getting a hole now ( they are 6 years old).

I am wondering if an fabric or upholstery shop would have a "iron" patch of some sort

Shane,
I find the rubber mats rather nice, but one thing to maybe consider, once you get new mats, is look into the ExactMats, those are clear and let the color of your mats show through.

These are the 07-08 sedan mats...

Are these mats a different composition than the previous Jason? They seem to be lighter. I started a similar thread on this the other day. Floormat Wear.

The 07-08 G35 Sedan mats are a different material than the previous years... The 03-06 Sedan / Coupe mats are a rubber like a giant pencil eraser consistency, the 07+ Sedan mats are more rigid feeling, a denser material. They are also lighter in weight. (the picture makes the mat look a lighter shade than they actually are, they are pretty much black)...

That's what I thought, perhaps being denser will make them wear better, maybe being the "eraser" made them grab too much causing the rubber to peel at the heel point. I for one like the looks of these mats, they look great in my graphite interior!

The OEM mats suck, I like the way they look, but the Nike SHOX wear a hole through them like its nothing. When I get my next set, I'm going to have an interior shop make a thicker heel pad, because the rest of the mat is fine.

I agree with the OEM winter mats Tom. I think they look good for a winter mat, and they are easy to keep clean. If I just run the carpeted summer mats during winter they would be soaked and salt stained all the time. You can't keep up with it .

These guys make carpet mats for our cars that fit perfectly. You even have the option of adding the heelpad!
