Sunroof creaking

My sunroof is creaking like mad when I tilt it up just opening and closing, it sounds horrible. I am betting it needs to be lubed up but how and what lube do I get for it?

I looked at it a bit and just sprayed some silicone spray and it made it worse

as a May '03 coupe owner with the creakiest sunroof on the planet, I can assure you, this will do the trick. Lasts a few months. But is not stinky or nasty (smells like lemon pledge) so reapplying is not an ordeal like silicone spray

your bmw dealer carries it for the convertibles... expect to pay 4x more tho.

This has nothing to do with the plastics, its the actually metal or what ever raising it up.

It has gotten better though.

my car does it, its actually the rubber part that surrounds the windows. Most of us don't open the sunroof and clean around that and the body that touches it. try cleaning that and adding a little dry wax to it.

Its not the rubber or anything to do with the sealing, its to do with the thing that lifts the glass up when you tilt it.

If you haven't figured this out yet take a small rag with WD40 and carefully clean everything. Clean is the answer, and the WD40 will help everything work easier.... I do this process at least once every 90 days so I won't have the issues you are.

The trick is leave it closed and then you don't hear the sound. Thats what I do.

there is a squeak or pop with body flex AND there is the very low quality rubber in the seal. I wouldn't recommend anything that may dry out the rubber even further, thats the beauty of Gummi Pfedge. I used silicon spray (as did the dealer) and I needed a new sunroof because the seal got so bad. Switched to Gummi and no problems years later.

the track related squeak can be a bit tricky to track down. there are a few places that can come from
