Do you have to remove the seat to change the power switch? Coupe
Title -
The height adjustment switch stopped working on my 05 coupe so I'm extremely uncomfortable, the setting is maxed out on high 😅
I found a 03 coupe in a boneyard I can take a new switch from but how do you remove the switch assembly on the right side of the driver seat?
Also wondering would it be possible once I have the new switch to just unplug the harness from mine and plug it into the loose switch simply to press the button and get the height moved down? At least to be comfortable until I actually change it out fully?
Some people have fixed it by flooding the switch assembly with WD-40 and cycling the switch back and forth a bunch of times. That cleans the contacts inside and gets the switch working again.
When I first got my car, some of my seat switches werent working. I tried the WD-40 method but it didnt work for me. So I opened up the switch assembly and cleaned the contacts inside manually. I didn't remove the seat.
Reach in and feel the side of the switch assembly. It has 2 screws holding it in, but they are covered with some thin paper film. Press in on the thin film and it punctures pretty easily, letting you access the screws. Now you obviously wont be able to get at the screws with a regular screwdriver, so just use a bit ratchet like I did. Now, you can detach the switch assembly from the seat and this will make it easier to access the internals. But this still wont let u remove it completely because the wiring will hold it in. It only lets u pull it out slightly.
Kinda like this: (I think this is Blue Dream's car?)
