SilverStars

I just got back from talking to my buddy at PartSource. Leo's the Commercial Manager there, and the guy that I talked into getting Sylvania SilverStars in as stock last year.

After carrying them and comparing with the PIAAs he was carrying, he dropped the PIAA line except for the PIAAs that ST doesn't come in.

I guess Canadian Tire, the parent company, recently caught wind of the STs being sold by Leo, got feedback, part numbers, and as a result, are now carrying SilverStars across Canada! Leo says it's all a result of his conversation with me, just over a year ago! Kinda cool if true.

Re: SilverStars

Hey there...

You know, recently my PIAA's (Super Plasma GT) went south on me (big shock I know), well 1 bulb did. So in a blaze of defeat I did get some SilverStars, & pop them in (amazing how quick it goes once you have been under that wheel well, did the whole thing in about 20 mins the 2nd time around).

I have to say though, although they are okay, I am not really all that thrilled with these bulbs. At first I thought they looked yellow, then after seeing them on the white painted concrete in the underground parking structure in the highrise I work in, I noticed a green'ish twinge to them, & they have grown on me a bit. I will say though, I really liked the look & higher k of the GT's. They had a really interesting sort of pruple'ish look to them. I know the PIAA's are very disappointing as a bulb from a quality standpoint, & oof course, these SiverStars are made in Germany, so they should last longer than the darned Coupe, but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, I guess in general I am really under-whealmed by the bulb options that are available for these 9003's these days.

Ironically, (and in retrospect I think I should have followed a previously traveled trail), on my 99 Infiniti G20t, I replaced the bulbs about 2 or so times until I found one that looked pretty good, & believe it or not, it was those Cool Blue's. I even had a neighbor comment on them one day, not even knowing I did anything to them, & really a G20t with regular halogens in not exactly table talk anyway.

They really had a super bright, white'ish light, with just ever so even a hint of, well a cool blue throughout, & boy, now I wish I would have picked those up.

I really though from looking at the bulb the SilverStars would have had more of a gem like effect to their beam, but it really just looks like a dull muddy yellow/green to me.

Is it just me, or is there something spectacular about these bulbs that I have TOTALLY missed????

Sorry, I do not intend for this message to be taken as critical in any way, I genuinely would like to get some feedback from folks on this. I feel like I am still in search of the perfect 9003 for my car.

I really want something that augments & enhances the Xenon's & this SS looks like such a stark contrast to then, I always thought the whole reason everyone was on this replacement kick was to get rid of that yellow look of the factory halogens anyway?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks....
