Installing HID's on the G35
Hiya all,
Just wanted to let everyone know there is a good possibility of us getting a HID installation article up soon. The HID kit we plan to run is the Mcculloch HID. From what I've seen they are off pretty high quality. If we do this swap we will have pictures and instructions so that all of you that missed out on the dealer option can have the opertunity of installing some HID's
If Jeff changes his mind anyone in the Bay Area or willing to come to campbell want to install HID's
?
Gya!

Re: Installing HID's on the G35
I have had a set of Mccullochs installed in my sedan for about a month now and they work great. They have pictures of the install they did on on my car on their website.

It took a bit of drilling to find a good place to mount the ballast and getting to the headlight itself wasn't easy

They're the 6100K bulbs. I had them installed for $399 parts + Labor, but the guy cut me a deal because it was a prototype install. I think normally it'd come out jsut a little less than what the factory option is (like $550?) maybe a little cheaper than that if you take APR into account

Re: Installing HID's on the G35
My advice to everyone. Is if you can get the HID option upgrade its 550 from the dealer when you buy your car. Get it! HID's are one thing you don't want to miss out on the road. Once you get them you can see everything
Now Jeff called the local infiniti and found out that to buy it from the dealer now was i think 600-700 each side for the HID. And 2000 for the HID's plus installed. So the McCulloch is a good option. So far I've seen and heard good things about them. I've been talking to them a lot as well.
BlkG35 Now I know whos the person that was the first guinea pig. Did you guys run into any troubles installing it? I need details before we try installing it
thanks

wterry, I have no idea how they compare to factory HID since I've never seen another G35 on the road at night, but I seem to **** off quite a few people when I'm behind them so I'm assuming they're pretty bright. I'll take some night shots when I get the chance.
Yuichi, the installation took about 4 hours and we had a whole garage at our disposal. We had to take off the front wheels, lift the car up a bit on a platform and remove all the fender lining. The guy drilled a small hole into the cap behind the lamp assembly for the HID's wiring 'cause the original wiring and the cap bushing are one whole piece. A small hole had to go into the framework to mount the ballast though I suppose you could use a wad of douoble sided tape. Someone with experience should be able to do it in about 1 1/2 hours.
