Question on H1's

Ok, so before i get flamed for spamming stuff thats already been posted please read this. Ive searched for this everywhere on the forums and havent found an answer yet. I know with the 06 headlights it switches from H4 to H1 bulbs and I myself am unfamiliar with the 06 headlights. Ive recently bought the 06 housings/projectors for my 03 coupe and now all i need is the bulbs. The oohhhhh so expensive bulbs ~_^

With the 03 headlights, they use H4 bulbs for the fogs/highs which have a double filament, in which case you would buy an H$ Bi-Xenon kit. With the 06's, do they work the same? If so, why cant i find an H1 Bi-Xenon kit. Or, is the H1 bulb completely separate from the Highbeam "unlike the 03 headlights". Then wtf bulbs is the Highbeam? I R confoosed.

I think it would help if somone put together a diagram of both the 03 headlights and the 06 headlights and posted it on a sticky with footnotes. I think this would definitely solve alot of peoples questions and i wouldnt have to search the forums for hours trying to find a post that ive recently viewed with headlight specs Maybe ill do it ^^ Thanks everyone for listening to my situation.

for the projectors, the high beams come from your xenons...not the fogs.

Oh wow no ****? OMG that explains alot! How could i be so blind? I was thinkin it would be more like the 03's and the HID's would just be low beams...Now i can actually buy the bulbs for my housings w/o worrying

I think i may go with either Philips 6000K HID or PIAA 6600K Cobalts "rather expensive"

With the H1's, if i were to go 6000K would the match the 6000K Philips?

Thanks alot superdds ^^

i was going to buy 6000k bulbs for my projectors...however after much thought i decided to stick with the oem bulbs and go with the color mod. this way you don't lose any light output while achieving a bluish hue at the cutoff. you might want to consider this since the price of the piaa is about the same for this mod.

I figure i can spend axtra couple bucks on the bulbs and not have to replace them rather than getter i cheap set. I actually only paid $190 for the set of 06 headlights. I saw it the second they came out on ebay and was like "gyyckhgsvdlkhgvalhcbvlhdvc" and i ordered asap ~_^ No scuffs/scratches/marks. I dont care if they are recalls because the only problem with the 06 recalled headlights was within the bulbs and not the ballasts. In which case, i need to buy my own bulbs so im good to go :P Ive recently bought a Gcoupe and its the Diamond color "Gunmetal Grey" so i plan on a black/grey theme. Bat's overlays here i come ^^

The recall wasn't a problem with the bulbs, don't know where you got that info

there's a buncha guys up here in Canada that did the 06 projector swap (recalled) and a whole buncha talk was going on that made everyone think the 06's wouldnt work at all if you just straight plugged and played them, a few guys I know had the rewiring done... I myself skipped it and just plugged them in, since I already knew the only issue was that the daylights dont come on automatically as you start the car, you have to manually flick the **** to turn the lights on...

DeadCellShadix, are you from Canada ?

What does that have to do with the recall?

Nah im from FLA, I was reading a post which said 06' recall on the forums and a few people said they sent theirs in and all the dealer did was replace the bulbs. I figured since im buying aftermarket bulbs i wouldnt have to worry about the whole recall issue. If they were recalled because of the automatic function on the day-time running lights i could care less :/ If they dont work period ill just send them back to the seller and get meh mula back ^^

Does anyone have a reccomendation for H1's that match the color of 6000k Philips?

neither one of those was the reason for the recall. It had to do with aiming issues and the cutoff being off and blinding other drivers. Thats why they were recalled. Had nothing to do with the bulbs or the automatic function. Be aware your aftermarket bulbs are going to be 25+% dimmer than the OEM 4300k bulbs, and you aren't going to find any bulbs that match the color of the 6000k bulbs exaclty
