resealing headlights

I just resealed my head lights after painting them black but I am having trouble. Every time I reseal there are gaps. I was wondering if anyone knew an easy way to seal them or if this is normal. The gaps are huge but they are noticeable and I am worried about worry leaking in. I can post pics if that helps. Are the gaps normal? Can I just put some silicon glue on the gaps and call it good?

What i do is reheat them and i use small C-clamps all around it and allow the headlight to properly fuse together again

I have tried to redo it many times with similar results. I am using a heat gun if that helps. I dont have access to an oven.

i would have used a small fresh bead of clear silicone guaranteed not to brown/harden/crack before resealing them.

heat gun is great, that's what i use. just C-Clamp them together

your local kragen, shucks, napa, pep boys should have some.. they're pretty cheap. i recommend to get medium sized ones, about 5-6"

hmm... I've never had a problem pushing the two halves back together but I've always used an oven. Try heating for longer. Does it pop back apart after it cools or can you just not push the two halves together

they gaps ususally are smaller but after it hardens the gaps get bigger. I have tried heating all of the glue before I resealed them but the results were the same.

i have honestly tried everything. I have tried resealing over 10 times now and it is the same if not worse. Can I just seal the gaps with silicon?

silicon sealer should work, be careful it can get messy, small chance that you may have warped the area around the seal with all of these multiple attempts, good luck!

When I did mine, I had some gaps as well...I ended up just putting them in and everything has been fine since. Its been raining out here the past couple days and no water has gotten inside. You'll be fine.
