and who said it was? I was talking about brightness. Glare does not equal too bright. if that was the case you'd think halogen is too bright compared to a properly aimed HID.

I just received a pair of 06-07 headlamp assemblies that I won off of eBay. They look great. In fact, they look too great. Are there aftermarket knock-off assemblies being sold out there? I was looking for Nissan or the Infinity logo somewhere on the assembly and found nothing.

How can I tell my lights are OEM?

Dredging up an old thred, so I did the "guts" swap on a set of 03 HID lights into the eBay halogen housings. The HID igniter is internal on the 03, is it still internal on the 05-06 lights? Or do they use a different ballast with the igniter built into it ? I'm trying to figure out if I can swap to the later model aftermarket "halo" and protector style headlight assays.

Most of the eBay crap lights with LEDs, angel eyes, etc fail within the first year of use. They weren't really designed for HID anyways, so they fall short on actual lighting performance.

Get your OEM headlights built, buy some retrofitted headlights, or stick to OEM with a good sanding and clear coating.

I see,
I'd still like to know if the igniter is internal in the 05-07 model cars, forgot to mention it's a sedan

That's not that helpful as I don't know what gen Infiniti is using on the 05-7 headlights. Thanks for the link, though as it gives options for upgrade to another project....

Sedan models are not 05-07, that's coupe years.
Sedans are 03-04 and 05-06, 07+ sedans are a whole different ball game.

Coupes and sedan use the same ballasts and igniters. Projector coupes got the D2S bulbs though.

Dig, so sedans never had projectors, so they prolly all have internal igniters. Where as when the coupes went 05-7 projector style, they have the ballast/igniter as a single unit.

Should be fine, check the number of pins on the harness out of the headlight and into the harness.

There is an igniter to ballast connection on the back of the ballast. So they can be disconnected.
