Clearing the fogging on headlights...

Hey guys!
One of my headlights is very foggy. I can barely see through it. I went to my mechanic and he pointed me to a place to clear both of the lights. He said it would cost around $200.
Is this something I could have done myself, knowing that I want to try and follow painting headlights DIY on here?

usually wash the lights clean...apply. set..then wipe...

unless their reallllly bad, and yellow, use 2000 grit but lightly...i shouldnt have on mine..try it without the sandpaper..just apply with a soft clothe.non abbrasive

Take it to your local bodyshop and ask them to wetsand your headlights and buff them up, shouldn't cost more than $40 and your lights will look new.

fogged headlights

I have had the headligths on my g35 coupe fogg up. The dealer cleaned them once for me. Now fogged again. Other Postings had mentioned using all kinds of things including toothpaste and then waxing. I also have a 2003 Honda CRV with 116000 miles on it and its headlights are much bigger and as clear as the day I got it. So why can't a High end car like the G35 coupe have better headlights like the Honda?/?????

Look in the detailing thread, there are several methods including PlastX, wet sanding, using polish and a Porter-Cable. It will fog up again and you'll have to do it again. And again. Just one of those things you gotta do to keep your ride looking good.

technically it's not fog (condensation), it's on the outside and just needs buffed out. I use Meguiar PlastX like many here, I buff them every month or so to keep them clear.

meguiar plastX works like a charm just for a quick and easy clean up. I think it works better than the Mother brand.

Ok....this is just wrong, this is the second post that mentioned sandpaper to be used on our headlight covers....again this is WRONG! We already had a post this week where a member used a Brillo pad to clean his headlight covers and destroyed them.... Use Meguiar's Plastix and a microfiber rag to get them clean/clear and then throw a good coat of quality wax on to protect them....nothing harsh ever....remember they're plastic!
