aftermarket ballast?

hi,

I have an 03 g35 and a ballast issue I think. About a year ago, one head light burnt out and it ended up being the passenger side ballast. I replaced it for $200 only to have it flicker off every once in a while when I drove. Nissan said it was normal and had to be broken in. I put up with it and now both headlights turn off.

Out of the blue they both turn off while driving and I have turn the headlight switch off and on. It's getting pretty bad.

I don't feel like putting the factory garbage ballasts back in there at $400 or any cost.

Somebody must have put the typical run of the mill ballasts you get from the cheap hid kits in the place of nissan's factory ballast.

I couldn't find a search on this site but all I really need is 2 wires. the pos and neg signal from the factory wiring. Thing is there's a bunch of wires there.

any help on the subject would be great.

Thanks!

Thanks bud,

I just went to there site.

I don't think they sell one specifically for the g35, just by the type of bulb you need.

I'm just wondering which kit you ordered (raptor or slim) and if your car came with factory hid's like mine did.

For the Low beams you can buy just the bulb from them, if you want to buy fogs I got there slim kit and it fits in the Sedan lights housing.

But DDM sells Universal kits so they work for any car.

you should go to theretrofitsource.com and buy the latest gen IV matsu****a ballasts, i think they are direct replacement for gen III (the ones that came on the g35) and they are WAY cheaper than what the dealer screwed you for. ($150 for the PAIR i think , check out the site!)

edit: stupid word filter, the brand is called " m a t s u s h i t a "

TRS The retrofit source. They are pretty reasonably priced. Retrofitting used to be so much more expensive.

Thanks for the input. Just got wait for the rain to clear out to fully test my ballasts. My lights will come on but... The driver side will go off. Then after turning off and on a couple times it works then the passenger goes out then I repeat the steps and they stay on. This didn't happen until I put aftermarket bulbs from this place by where I live... So a test is in order
