CCFL in clearance strip (56K no)

Well here it is. I finally got the 12" CCFL strip to work in my clearance strip. I had to do a bunch of things to make it work but I think it looks simply amazing!

Parking lights on (Headlight bezel is not on in this pic):

Headlights on:

What the headlights will look like once I put the bezel back on:

The light ouput of the new clearance light:

You truly can use it as a clearance light now. The camera lies as usual with any lighting. The color is pure white with no hint of blue. It is very neat looking and not obnoxiously bright.

I thought I could finish my headlights this weekend but it never came true. I was tied up trying to make the projector trim look good. This is what I came up with:

I was not happy with the results so I am scrapping using BMW trim (A nice $80 mistake ) Sorry guys the DIYs have been delayed another week!

Actually, it was relatively simple. It only took me about an hour of labor to get it to work. The only thing that is challenging is opening up your headlights to get to the clearance strip assembly.

CCFL side markers would be a great idea! You can get them as short as 4". I got my CCFL tubes at http://www.svc.com

$5 for a 12" Tube and the inverter.

Looks good, Pete.

Looked like space was pretty cramped with the E46 bezel.

I'm finishing work on my custom TSX shields. I had to go through about 5 prototypes before getting ones that looked the way I wanted.

Cool, glad to see you were able to fit that 12 incher in there I didn't think you would have enough room!

They look wicked!

Yeah it was a very tight fit and I had to do some hacking. But it fills out the housing nicely. I think if you could get a 10" stick made it would be a little easier. But it still will not be a "drop-in" type solution.
