the listing says it's for a 6MT w/o navigation. why would it matter if it doesn't have navi? anyone know?
Not sure?

I saw this once before with the NISMO guages. Someone here installed them and they did not work b/c of the NAVI part. Weird, but...

I have a 2003 6MT w/o Nav, so hopefully this will be a direct replacement!!!!!

from looking over the wiring diagrams quickly the 06 has 52 wires and the 03 has 48.

I will print these out to look over them to see what I can make out. The only draw back i can see to doing this is going from an 03 to an 06 you would have to cut you factory plug off to splice/ sodder all these new connections to the 06 pigtail. kinda risky for the testing

my guess is what the nav has to do with the cluster is the nav is getting a speed signal or something to determine length of time and distances only a guess tho so

During TESTING..... instead of cutting your original wires.. just have a bunch of wires leading out from the harness and tap them to the gauges.. After you got all the wiring figured out.. cut it off and solder everything on. Label each wire with tape.

This is awesome...can't wait to see how this turns out. Pricey cost for experimenting, but you can always sell it on ebay if it doesn't work for some reason.

By the way, I assume the shape and mounting brackets are exactly the same as the 03/04?

It is exciting that's for sure.

As far as the cost, I nabbed the gauge for $199.99 + 15.00 shipping. Sounds like a deal to me!!!

I can't sleep tonight thinking about it! LMAO!!

I'm sure the 2 bills are a deal in the whole scheme of things...but I'm not much of a gambling man so its a high buy in for me. Good luck though - hopefully this isn't too painful a mod as this is a mod I'd do for sure!

I could be naive, but $200 for that cluster with the piggie tails and in good condition (at least I'm hoping it arrives to me that way), is a tiny price to pay for an upgraded cluster.

If we are successful....opps strike that..."WHEN" we complete this mod and document it, anyone deciding to do it will have to find a used cluster or go to the "Stealership" and pay like....who knows how much...I know what you mean about 'gambling' though, b/c you are indeed correct...it is a gamble. But, I can break it down like so

Pro's:
* I get a sweet new cluster! [dependent on success] - let me add that we all get a sweet new cluster!

* It's cheap ($200), well compared to what it would cost at stealership

* I can re-sell it if it doesn't work? (hopefully)

* If I can not re-sell, I can somehow use some of the parts for my current 03' cluster (lights, needles, who knows...still not much for 200, I know...)

Con's: [Worst case senario]
* It won't work and I can't re-sell. Eat the entire 200 clams and nothing is interchangable...

What's funny though and I'm not one of those guys that is an @ss about stuff like this at all, but you have to admit, that people like me and other (especially AccordFreak) are sacraficing money, time, energy etc into a mod of this magnitude and others (you and the rest of the G35driver community) "reep" the rewards.

I'm extremely fine with that, b/c I've used other's DIY guides and I am extremely grateful for them to attempt some mod that nobody else has done before.

Anyways, risk or no risk, it's all about sharing and working towards the common good for the group.

Is this considered the "MOD BUG"??

I think I'm feeling sick, maybe I've got that very bug? HA!

Good Luck to us all....

P.s. I need to stop flapping my fingers on this keyboard and get to work this weekend...Need to PM the other boys to see if the wiring schema is looking readable...

Well for all of us wishing for this mod...I hope you're successful

I think for big "unknown" projects like these where someone takes a chance...others should "chip" in for the cause. I'm willing to throw in some bucks to help you offset the cost of your research. Keep in mind I'm not saying tons of $$$, but I think I can spare a few bones!

PM me your paypal address and I'll help out! Pay it forward! Good luck!

RocketG35,
PM sent. Thanks! You are for sure a "Premier Member".

On another note...

I was thinking last night. Is it possible to take out the old cluster and unclip it. Pull the slack on the wiring from the car that was going to the old cluster and grap the new cluster and cut some wires to go from one "PORT"...not sure what to call the female end of the plug coming from the car...anyways, place a 'middle man' wire going inside a female port to a wire (twist tie it to the one wire from the pig tail) and say turn on your lights to see if the HALO illuminates...

What I'm getting at, is can we can grab a wire from the car and "tap" it into a random wire on the pig tail and see what happens. Say you get lucky and you tap the right one...then you can move on to the next.

I know this is "Flying Blind", but just a random thought. I'm hoping the other boys can get the wiring schema down to a science or atleast give us a good guess as to "The Blue Wire from the car -- tap that into the yellowish brown pig tail and that should get us the speedometer working",,,etc etc,,,

***Is there a DRAW BACK to this method (my random method)???? !!!!!! ***

Could I possibly fry the internal electronics in the new cluster OR even worse, fry the electronics in my car somehow by pairing up two wires that are supposed to be connected????

I'm not an expert in Electrical Eng, so I need all the help I can get with Electricity and it's crazy properties...

I guess if the "LOAD" [if that's what you call it] or "Amparge" (sp?) is different say for the HALO illumination from the gas tank needle, then maybe it could short out the circuit board on the gauge cluster??? Speak up guys if you have any clue about this stuff...PLEASE....

Anyone have some feedback to this...

Thanks guys. Trying to keep this thing rolling as much as I can. I need to PM a few people to see if we can chat about locking the wiring down...

Shout Out too:

CruisnGcoupe & AccordFreak
What do you two think, and CruisnGcoupe, do you think we can MATCH up the wires pretty close to what it's supposed to be once I get the new cluster? What are you're thoughts...

Thanks,
-WoW

use the schematics.. start by trying to power it up first.. IMO wiring with infiniti isn't exactly easy with their retarded data lines they have.

you have the schematics to both years right?

the pictures on the bottom shows the power wire location...
