Has anyone wired an aftermarket amp to their Bose system in an M yet?

Doesn't the Bose stereo already have an amp? If so, can't you just swap it out for the JL?
I'm don't have Bose but I want to put an amp on my M also. I was told by an installer, that there's somekind of inline converter that they wire into one of the door speakers which goes to the amp. I wonder if that'll work.
