Transgo Shift Kit = Smile + Chirping

bought it off a forum member (surprisingly as I've never really seen one for sale in the marketplace before) but you can get them here for ~250 shipped http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRG-RE5R05A-HD2
i posted a video before I installed the kit that I found so you can see the difference

Btw i posted a comment on youtube, maybe you can change the video title so it becomes easier to find when people search for it.
Edit: I see that you changed it, now it's easier to be found.

it does downshift a bit faster, but nothing jerky as the upshifts. It's just more crisp and falls into gear faster. You wouldn't notice it was different if you weren't looking for it. The only time you feel the difference is when you punch it.

Hmmm.. still doesn't seem as violent as the SGP trans, I hear they made the most aggressive. Yours seems smoother, and definitely faster than stock. It'd be interesting to know the difference in speed between all the kits. Obviously "jerkiness" doesn't necessarily mean better.
The VB upgrade is great for anyone, especially the Transgo because of it's lower price and DIY possibilities. Automatic transmissions used to bang into gear when they first became available on cars - people complained about the uncomfortable jolt and soon manufactures started to figure out ways to slow the shift down... this made it smoother, but at the sacrifice of longevity due to slipping of the clutches before full engagement. With our technology today we have figured out ways to smooth the shifts (still done by making the shift time slower), and improve the life of the automatic transmissions. The VB upgrade takes you back to the days of banging gears and feeling the car shift, shorter shift times/engagement times = less slippage of the clutch packs = less wear and longer life.
Now... this is kind of a two-sided sword because while quicker shifts on these transmissions may equal a longer life, when we do this modification our driving styles usually change to being more aggressive... or we install FI, etc. For an example, my stock tranny went after 3,000 miles of being FI (15,000 babied before that)... I got a new 5AT and VB before it went back on the car. It's now been 10,000 supercharged very abusive miles and the tranny hasn't given me a bit of trouble.

This is what I am worried about, I want to keep my car for a long time, fluid changed at 30k intervals..ect
But you should get an oil cooler if you get this for added safety I heard, but meh too expensive to mess with if something goes wrong.

VB upgrades lengthen the life of the tranny. They do not harm anything unless installed wrong. You don't really need a cooler, it's only recommended for those that drive their car harder with FI. The car does not come with a trans cooler stock, therefore it shouldn't be needed on a stock car unless you intend to track the car on a regular basis. Heat is the other big life reducer of the 5AT.
The VB benefits any car from stock to fully built, and doesn't require any additional upkeep aside from what the factory says... but as an added note, since I run my car hard I change my fluid every 20k. If you're not FI and just a weekend warrior a cooler isn't needed if you don't run back to back to back to back passes, likewise, if you are FI and are just a show car you also don't necessarily need a cooler. Hope that helps.

ir's a joke, it's a small tube that goes thru the radiator, i doubt if it does anything, you can buy a cheap tube and fin design cooler for less than $80, or if you got some cash you can go with Setrab cooler, even if you don't race and just drive your car from home to work and back, you'd defenitly notice the difference with a tranny cooler, as for me having a trans. cooler on my car is a must, if not for tracking and racing, then it would be for prolonging my trans. fluid.

Yea i know, that's why i pointed it's a joke, tbh i think it doesn't do anything since it's just a tube that go few inches thru the radiator, search youtube for "how it's made Radiator" and you'll see what i mean, in the past i thought it was a small fin and tube radiator inside the stock one, but i was sooo wrong.

I drove Tofu's G @ our last meet and his car shifted much faster than mine and didn't jerk @ all even in D mode! Felt great.
I'm ordering this mod hopefully by the end of the month so I can give my own impressions before I have my TT kit installed.
I'm stoked!!! This mod is def worth the money
