Quote: To the guy who started the thread. How are your gold rims holding up. I want to plasti-dip and paint my rims high gloss black for a while then when the whole black rim phase fades away take it off and redo them a silver color. i have the 17" 2003 rims and the factory finish looks like crap. Is this worth it, or should i just pay some big bucks and get the prof. powder coated?
They're holding up fine so far. Just gotta make sure not to curb them.

I decided to paint mine graphite to accent the car. Black looked too boring.

tell me what you guys think. I'm not done yet. I have two more wheels to do.

All the curb rash is from the previous owner. I've never curbed ( i swear :P)

3 or 4 coats of plasti dip (wheels with more rash get 4, less rash get 3) and 2 coats of duplicolor graphite wheel paint from advanced. For the wheel in the picture we took a metal bristle disk and smoothed out the rash for the plasti dip to stick better. but for the most part i just washed them and dried them. i didn't sand 3 of the wheels at all. it was only this one that i posted.

this stuff is awesome, it smooths itself out really nicely, and hides rash really well. It doesn't hide it 100%, but its only noticeable now really close up and if you're looking for it.
