BMW beater????
BMW beater????
Just a quck story too share....
In a recent sales meeting early December three of my work colleagues (all BMW owners & enthusiasts) were talking about the merits and advantages that Bimmers have over other similarly equpped/priced cars. I, having previously owned two 3-series, I offered my opinion on my new G35 D/G 04 sedan and they all said "infiniti is a BMW wannabe".
Cut too the chase, we were leaving the meeting and the four of us got onto 294North heading back too Libertyville when the race adrenaline overtook us all and it was on. Suffice too say, my G pulled away from the pack (these cars include an 03 330ci, an 01 328i and a 02 Z3) and pretty much trounced them all, all the way back too the 137 Exit).
BMW wannabe?..I think not...more like BMW beater.
I'd go as far too say, that in the very competetive sports sedan market there is nothing that comes close too in performance and or price as the G35. Oh and by the way there's a bloke somewhere up here who regularly tries too race me in the mornings in a Mazda6..my advice, go buy an RX8 so at least when you lose you won't be so far behind me...

Re: BMW beater????
Nice... I beat a friend's 330xi in my FX35. He won't go up against me in the G now.... we're talking big bimmer family too-- M5, 330xi, and his dad wants him to get a 330 with performance package. Now he wants a G instead In fact, since I've gotten my G, two friends have followed my footsteps. Make that three soon.

Re: BMW beater????
Good kills. Be careful against the 330 with PP. It pulls hard (in fact, some are running better 1/4s than our sedans-yes, with 40 less hp) I recently went up against a 330ci on 55S and although he came up fast and hard, I was able to quickly gain on him- but, it wasn't a shut out. I would suspect that even a moderatly well driven 330 w/ PP could beat a sedan that was driven so so. If the MUCH more expencive M3 pulls up on you, save your gas. You have no chance.
BTW, the infinity is a BMW wannabe. It's advertised as such, and even descibed by dealers as such (obviously not in those words.) The great thing is that Infinity set thier mark, narrowed thier eyes, fired, and won the day. For less cash you get something very close to a quality bimmer for way less $.

Re: BMW beater????
Good point about the 330, nice car and well driven well who knows? As for the M3, I wouldn't waste my gas, it would be a no contest.
Here's the funny thing I've noticed since I got my G35 in November. Prior to this car I owned 2 Bimmers (3 series), an Audi A4 1.8T and I hate too admit it, but a 2002 Chrysler 300M. Driving these cars I very rarely got challenged into a race by other drivers. With my G it seems like every day somebody wants too race, interesting?

Re: BMW beater????
I debated between the 330 CI and the coupe....and I got the coupe because I get way more looks. People always look at my G and you can tell they are thinking, "What the hell is that nice looking car?" as they check it out. Too many BMW on the road. If it isn't an M, I am not interested. I just saw a brand new M3 and they made a few mods to the front but it still looks the same. Anyone know what the hp is or 0-60 on the new M3?
Re: BMW beater????
Not sure of the hp or 0-60 times in the 04 M3, but I know it's faster than my G...A buddy of mine just picked up an 04 LexusIS300 and wants too race...I must decline as I'd hate too leave him so far behind.
Re: BMW beater????
0-60... i don't know. But hp is 333. Bam. That hp comes in around 7000rpms, so it's no LS1, but it'll spank even a modded coupe 6 speed (obviously w/o FI). I would especially watch out for 2002 M3's. The warranty may have run out, and from what I hear with a few simple mods, a lot of extra hp can be added.
The M3 engine is as far advanced beyond the VQ as the VQ is beyond a GM 3800... no no just kidding, a hamster wheel is more advanced than the 3800. But the M3's engine is about as good as an N/A 6 can be.

The GM 3800 with forced induction is the engine of choice in the new Grand Prix GTP. In last month's car& driver one of the editor's said this was a remarkable engine? This engine is so old not too mention supercharged producing 260bhp I wonder what that editor was thinking?
The new Maxima, with it's 3.5 engine blows this GM piece of junk away and produces 5 more ponies not too mention the fact, that though heavily discounted the GTP Grand Prix is priced in the low 30k range? Just an observation.
