Hey G35 community. I got a killer deal on a really clean 04 G35 yesterday with only 75k miles. 6mt and fully loaded minus navigation. I had a Daytona blue 350Z for a little over 3 years and absolutely loved it. I sold it last October and bought a Harley. After having a couple other vehicles, I kept coming back to how much I loved the Z and the dependability of the VQ. I have a baby coming in less than 3 weeks and decided a few months ago I wanted a G35, which I have always loved as well. I found this deal and couldn't pass it up. It's weird how similar yet different it is than the Z. So far I'm loving it. Here's a pic of my old Z on the day I sold it and a couple pics of the G after washing the salt off it last night before tucking it in the garage before snowpocalypse lol.

Extras/mods include
8k HIDs
5/16 plenum spacer
350z intake tube with JWT pop charger
Front and rear sway bars
Nismo GTR shift **** (one of my personal favorites lol)
Nismo side skirts/lip
Hotchkis springs
Badge-less trunk (love it)
Not extra but love that the G has LSD. Just a side note lol.
Anyone else make a switch from Z to G?

What are your thoughts (opinions) on the differences between the two cars? The Z is growing on me (not that I'd ever trade the G). Compare and contrast. I've never driven a Z, but I'm interested. (I know the tech numbers, I'm asking more about "feel")
Nice lookin coupe!
Welcome to Driver! I came from a '92 300ZXTT that I put 125K miles on, it was tough letting her go! You guys in Indiana are really getting hit hard this winter. I have a cousin in Spiceland, 40 miles east of Indianapolis. Good Luck & Enjoy the ride...Gary

I went from a '04 6mt Z roadster. It was overall a nice car but would not recommend as a daily. Got plenty of attention. Ended up trading it for my current and 3rd G35. Now that I've had the chance to drive both cars, I wouldn't be going back to the 350Z anytime in the future. Don't get me wrong, I'd drive another Z again, but If I had the chance to choose, I'd pick the G35 over a Z anyday.
For those of you wondering, the Z in more sports oriented. Is easier to corner/drift/mess around in. It is comfortable for the first 30 or so minutes, then it goes downhill from there. If you are still debating, just go with the G coupe, you get the best out of both worlds.

Had a 350z and 370z then switched to the G after some DA rear ended my 370
It was a big downgrade in power but I like the G more than both of the Z's I had.

My brother has a 2008 350z w/ HR motor... it's quicker & lighter yes (you will notice this ASAP).
Good for taking turns, maybe the track, etc,. but after a while I much rather be in my G. Also,
if you are tall (I'm 6ft) it may be uncomfortable. Plus I've gotten more compliments on how "clean" my
car looks with my brother riding in the passenger side haha.
TL;DR: Overall I prefer the G over the Z, but enjoy the aesthetics of both

Thanks everyone. I loved my Z a lot, I thought it was a fantastic car. I loved how sporty it felt and how comfortable it was for being a sports car (2 seater). It was my year round daily and did great (I had stock wheels for winter of course). I had only driven a G35 a couple times before I purchased mine. I have driven many G37s due to working at Infiniti a few years ago. They are definitely unique in their own way. I feel that the G is a more mature version of the Z. I do feel that the Z has more power. Idk what it is but I felt the same way when I had the Z and drove an 07 6mt G that we got in on trade. The G can still get down and have some fun but you can obvioulsy tell, from the factory at least, that the G was made to be a 'sports coupe' not a 'sports car'. I know that sounds stupid but IMO there's a difference between those to terms. Anyway I can ramble on. At the end of the day, I missed my 6mt VQ and the only way to get that again was through a G. I wasn't sure if I'd be "settling" but the couple times I've driven it so far, and also that I keep making stupid excuses to go to the garage to look at it, tell me that I made an amazing choice. I will definitely be keeping this one.
Yes Indiana is crazy cold and snowy right now. It's unseasonably cold for us with a wind chill of -30! It's normally about 25 right now. I tucked the freshly washed G in the garage before it hit. Here's a pic with mine and my father in laws Harleys.

Well the only real difference is the weight. The Z is 200lbs lighter so its a little quicker but the G actually pulls more g's on the tarmac. (0.91 lateral gs vs the Zs 0.89 lateral gs if I remember correctly [car and driver]). So really, you just gotta shave 200lbs off and you'll have yer Z back, but with 4 seats.
