About to buy 07 G35X - Carchex Warranty???
TL;DR - should I buy a Carchex Warranty on an 07 35X w/50K miles.
Not quite in the club yet, tomorrow I'm going to be (hopefully) buying an 07 G35X. After reading and reading the forums for the last couple of weeks and test driving a couple I'm really really looking forward to owning this car. The unknown factor is creating a little bit of pucker - but hey, I've got a MINI Cooper - so I'm no stranger to cars breaking down.
Here is my question for the G35Driver collective --- is it likely that I'll make use of a Carchex warranty? My quote is for a bumper to bumper (except for consumables) w/100 deductible. $100 per month. Pay by the month cancel anytime.
My first thought was to buy this as an out the door "oh crap" used car warranty. But, it's got a 30 day 1000 mile waiting period before you can make a claim. I'm confident my own inspection will be sufficient to get me through a month and 1000 miles. But what about the next 6 months? The last Nissan I owned was a 94 Maxima SE. So the marque is mostly unknown to me.
So - maybe keep the warranty for 6 months just to get a feel for the car and how much trouble its going to be? Its going to be my daily driver and will likely have about 1500 miles each month. I would think I'll find out soon enough what needs attention.
Carchex's pre-existing rule concerns me some but the car has been maintained pretty well from the dealer records and is low miles still.
I'll post more later this week, obligatory pictures, saga from the trip home, cheesy dog shots, etc. etc.
Great forum - can't wait to participate in a more meaningful way....

I mean, sure it'll be nice to have for now but the real issues don't commonly start until 80k/100k+
My warranty covers 90k or 5 years from time of purchase so that gets me to about 150k/2017

oh wow - that is a long time. The dealer gave me a 3000 mile / 90 day warranty for the engine, trans and diff. Better than nothing. Also, he pitched a warranty from them. I can buy a 60K/48month warranty - but it's $135/month for a total of $3400. Really starting to add up on the total cost. I guess what I'm hearing you say is I shouldn't expect expensive things to break until after 110K miles.
I picked it up today, LONGGG day. Up at 5:30, made it by 1:30. After stopping off at the Infiniti dealer to get the service records. Looks good except for a gap between 36K and 49K. I am hoping the previous owner just did oil changes with someone else. Otherwise
Two issues surfaced. The RF cv boot is ripped. Selling dealer played dumb. So I got them to come down 250 additional for that to be fixed by my mechanic. Hopefully it's not the joint itself that is bad too... no clicking on the way home. Also, I smell some faint wisps of antifreeze. No obvious drips but it is for sure there.
Trip home was uneventful, except for the futile attempt at trying to find the release for the gas tank cover. "oh... push, how quaint." I'm bushed now, but here is at least the initial pictures.
